Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart!
Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart specializes in a St Louis delicacy – Toasted Ravioli!
I am told that toasted ravioli started when a line cook working on The Hill (the little Italy of St Louis) and accidentally dropped a ravioli in a fryer and loved what came out!
Ali, one of the owners of Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart tells me that toasted ravioli is a common item on may St. Louis restaurants and she remembers having it for lunch at her St. Louis area high school.
The Food
At Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart they stuff ravioli with delightful fillings and throw them in the deep fryer!
What comes out is a golden brown beauty that has a great texture, lots of flavor and it not greasy at all. They offer six different toasted ravioli options. I got the Beef and Veggies (which is what they have in St. Louis) and the Cheese. Both were very tasty!
If you prefer you can also get your ravioli boiled and and not “toasted.”
I am looking forward to going back and trying the chicken pesto and the spinach artichoke.
They also have really good salads. I had the Cobb salad – lots of bacon and avocado. To my way of thinking – a perfect Cobb!
If you prefer you can also get your ravioli boiled and and not “toasted.”
Cart Made Dough!
Ali and Dan make their own dough every day and sometime s more than once a day.
no wonder their raviolis are so good!
Where
Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart is located at the a la cart Food Pavilion at 50th and Ivon just off of Division. This Food Cart Pod is home to number of GR8 Portland Food Carts including The Burger Guild, Hapa PDX and So Cold.
This Food Cart Pod has a great seating including a covered seating area that is heated in the winter. Rod maintains this Food Cart Pod and he does a stellar job!
It is amusing to me that Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart is sitting right about exactly where the Ragin’ Cajun Gumbo Food Cart used to sit. I still miss that cart.
I guess that particular spot has a “ragin'” energy!
Who or Which One of you is Lou?
Dan and Ali are business partners who own Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart. They both grew up is St. Louis, however they did not meet until two years ago while catching up with mutual friends at the Laurelwood Pub.
Please note – there is no “Lou” at Lou’s Ragin’ Ravioli Food Cart. The use of the name “Lou” is a nod to St. Louis.
If you are a baseball or hockey fan you have an extra incentive to visit Lou’s – Dan and Ali love baseball and hockey! Dan is a BIG St. Louis Cardinals fan and Ali loves the St. Louis Blues!
